Songstress Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin and
singer-composer Hafiz Hamidun have both been recognised as among the world's
most influential Muslim. Both their names appeared for the first time in The
World's 500 Most Influential Muslims 2016 list, an annual publication started
in 2009. The list features 500 names from the global Muslim population who are
highly influential in their respective fields. Both Siti and Hafiz were
surprised when told they were in the list. Other Malaysian personalities
recognised in past years and featured again are Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan
Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, and Tun
Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
