The coffee shop claims to have been the
first to bring the Italian Cappuccino to America.
In 1959, presidential hopeful John F.
Kennedy gave a speech outside of its doors.
It has been in many movies,
including Godfather II, Shaft, Serpico, and more
recently: Inside Llewyn Davis.
The ceiling fan, which works, is actually
a prop from Casablanca!
Inside you can sit on a bench from a
Palazzo "of the mighty Florentine Medici family of Renaissance fame,"
it's over 500 years old.
That aforementioned 1902 espresso machine
cost owner Domenico Parisi $1,000 when he opened the place, a small fortune.
The cafe didn't always serve food, but
they do now. For brunch, you can get an entree, a cappuccino, AND a mimosa for
$16. The coffee is where they shine, however, and that's how it's always been:

Motif Band - Tuhan Jagakan Dia with lirik - PLAYLIST

Motif Band - Tuhan Jagakan Dia with lirik - PLAYLIST

Whether we realize it or not, appreciating the life we live is a necessity in order to prosper. Appreciating your life is about being grateful for the people that are in your life that make it better, and the things that you have, even if they may not be everything in which you may desire. We must be able to prefer to appreciate the things we cannot have instead of trying to appreciate things that we would not be able to appreciate. There are things that every one of us can appreciate as well, Including your health, your family, and the fact that you are alive. Appreciating your life calls for one to be humble, and calls for one to appreciate the journey to greatness that they are on, and not just the destination in which they are headed to. Also be willing to show others that you love that you appreciate their lives as well.

Pakistan mourns deaths of 148 killed in Taliban attack | Fox News

PESHAWAR,
Pakistan –  The Taliban massacre that killed 148 people, mostly children,
at a military-run school in northwestern Pakistan left a scene of heart-wrenching
devastation, pools of blood and young lives snuffed out as the nation mourned
and mass funerals for the victims got underway Wednesday.
The
attack at the Army Public School and College in the city of Peshawar on Tuesday was
the deadliest slaughter of innocents in the country and horrified a nation
already weary of unending terrorist assaults.
Blood
was still splattered on the floor and the stairs as media were allowed inside
the school a day after the attack. Torn notebooks, pieces of clothing and
children's shoes were scattered about amid broken window glass, door frames and
upturned chairs. A pair of child's eyeglasses lay broken on the ground.
Prayer
vigils were held across Pakistan
and in other schools, students spoke of their shock at the brutal slayings in Peshawar, where children
and teenagers were gunned down and some of the female teachers burned alive.
Army commandos fought the Taliban in a day-long battle until the school was
cleared and all the attackers were dead.

Kuala Lumpur tops global rich list with 13,800 millionaires | Malaysia | Malay Mail Online

Kuala Lumpur tops global rich list with 13,800 millionaires | Malaysia | Malay Mail Online

Malaysia's largest shopping mall Suria KLCC in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysian
firms could find themselves economically vulnerability after gorging on cheap
loans abroad. — AFP picKUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 — Malaysia’s largest city Kuala
Lumpur has the highest number of millionaires (denominated in US dollars)
surpassing all other cities of the world, according to a report by
international wealth research group WealthInsight.
The city had 13,8000 millionaires or high
net worth individuals (HNWIs) in 2013, higher than Abu Dhabi’s 12,500, Cape
Town’s 8,753 or Birmingham’s 8,736, WealthInsight said.
The  number of millionaires
concentrated in Kuala Lumpur gives an indicator of
Malaysia’s
fast-growing wealth at the top end but also suggests an increasing gap between
the richest and the rest of the population.
Average annual income in the country
stands around RM20,000 and minimum wage weighs in at RM900 a month.
WealthInsight predicted that Malaysia’s
number of millionaires will jump from over 26,000 last year to 30,054 in just
four years, with total Malaysian wealth also projected to increase from US$151
billion (RM527 billion) to US$206 billion (RM719 billion) in the same period.
“Malaysian wealth grew at the remarkable
rate of 59.6 per cent between 2009 and 2013 and is expected to increase by a
further 28% to reach US$206 billion in 2018,” said the group which claims to
have a detailed database on the rich and an international-based team of over
500 economists, analysts and researchers.
WealthInsight analyst Tom Carlisle cited
the well-performing Malaysian economy during the financial crisis as the reason
for the 45.5 per cent hike in new millionaires minted during the 2009 to 2013
period to the total pool of 26,105.
“Since becoming an Islamic banking hub, Malaysia has
seen a large surge in investment to its shores, increasing by 52.6 per cent
since 2008 to US$11.6 billion. Malaysia has also seen a large increase in HNWIs
acquiring their wealth in finance as well as in real estate and construction,
increasing by 64.8 per cent, 57.2 per cent and 55.1 per cent respectively”,
says Carlisle.
“Malaysian HNWIs are currently investing
54% of their overseas portfolio in the Asia-Pacific,” Carlisle
said, adding that the Malaysian millionaires’ wealth had grew through
investment in real estate which would be influenced by the high economic growth
expected over the next five years.
Malaysia is also predicted to have more
billionaires (20) in 2018 compared against oil-rich United Arab Emirates (19),
WealthInsight said in its report titled “Millionaires in Malaysia: 26,000 and
Counting”.
The leading source on the rich and
ultra-rich pointed out that Malaysia’s overall wealth was similar to countries
with larger populations, including Argentina’s US$160 billion, Colombia’s
US$154 billion and Indonesia’s US$206 billion.
“With a population of only 28.3 million, Malaysia has a similar number of millionaires
than much more densely populated countries such as Indonesia, whose population stands
at 237.6 million.
“This demonstrates the big potential for
billionaire growth in Malaysia,”
Carlisle said.
Currently, Malaysia’s
billionaires have 209 per cent more wealth than Paraguay’s entire millionaire population,
with the growth of Malaysian billionaires last year standing at US$46 billion,
WealthInsight said.

four years, spa lovers and health enthusiasts found a sanctuary in Nada Lama
Spa  & Jamu Bar, set among the leafy settings of Bukit Lanjan not far
from Damansara Perdana.
In a wooden house built in traditional
Malay architectural style, visitors enjoyed relaxing massages, a selection of
health-boosting jamu (tonics brewed from spices and herbs) and a small menu of
Indonesian delights at their in-house cafe, Warung.
When Nada closed down about two years ago
due to concerns over safety after landslides in the area, regulars thought
they’d enjoyed the last of Warung’s food but luckily for them, Nada owner
Pamela Noer has now teamed up with a group of collaborators to set up Konscious
Cafe.

Occupying a corner space that’s actually
part of Clean Pro laundry next door, the cafe is decked out in antique wooden
furniture relocated from Nada and sports that familiar homey, rustic vibe.

Exploring Malaysian Spa Resorts, Caves and Mountains | Stuart Forster

Exploring Malaysian Spa Resorts, Caves and Mountains | Stuart Forster

When you head off on vacation, do you
simply want to reach your hotel, unpack and spend a couple of weeks enjoying a
relaxing change of scenery or do you consider switching accommodation while
you're away?
There are benefits to the latter. During a
recent trip to Malaysia
I stayed at four different resorts and hotels, so that I could maximise my
impressions of the country. Doing so allowed me to take a look at Langkawi, Ipoh and the Malaysian
capital, Kuala Lumpur (KL).

Grey seals identified as killers behind mystery harbour porpoise deaths » Focusing on Wildlife

“This is a new behaviour. They’re normally
fish eaters, they can eat a large fish, around half a metre. It’s a switch from
fish-eating to mammal-eating. I don’t think it’s indicative of lower fish
stocks, they just learned a new trick,” Mardisk F Leopold, who led the
research, told the Guardian.
“They are very social and when they go
hunting, they do it alone, so it was surprising they can transfer this
behaviour to others. It’s not just one seal. This is everywhere along the Dutch
coast.”
He said there was no reason to think the
behaviour, which took off in a big way from 2006 onwards, would not be replicated
by other seals in northern Europe. “We know
there is exchange between ‘Dutch’ seals and ‘English’ or ‘Scottish’ seals, so
there’s ample opportunity for dispersal of this behaviour.”
The porpoises are targeted by the seals
for their blubber, with healthy and fat juvenile the favoured prey. The
scientists speculate as to whether porpoises will adapt to the threat of being
eaten by seals by becoming leaner and faster swimmers, though this would put
them at risk of dying from emaciation, another major cause of their death.
The paper concludes that many of the
porpoises were found on beaches used by swimmers and surfers and there was no
evidence to suggest why “humans may not be at risk from grey seal attacks.”

Leopold said there had been reports of
seal-human incidents in northern Europe, but
no deaths. “Attacks is maybe a big word – people have been bitten while
swimming. I don’t think there have been attacks that have not been provoked.”
