The Platypus - It’s a mammal, but it lays eggs.

It’s a mammal, but it lays eggs. It looks like a beaver, but has duck’s beak and otter’s feet. It was considered to be a hoax when first encountered by western people, but is very much not so. The Platypus is endemic to Western Australia (meaning it can only be found there) and is known to be poisonous – male Platypus have a sting in their spurs and use it in cases of danger. While the venom is not lethal it can cause permanent damage, so beware the Platypus! - See more at: http://royalounge.com/the-10-most-dangerous-creatures-in-australia/5/#sthash.IevwtiGG.dpuf

The Eastern Brown Snake is the 2nd most venomous snake in the world and can be widely found in the Australian Deserts. It is active during the day and tends to hide when confronted, but can and will attack when provoked, so if you see the brown menace, make sure you don’t intimidate it. If you do get bitten, seek medical treatment as soon as possible as the damage can be averted. - See more at: http://royalounge.com/the-10-most-dangerous-creatures-in-australia/7/#sthash.aRzERXoE.dpuf

While it looks like a small harmless alien, the Cone Snail is a tiny killer lurking at the ocean’s floor. It has a proboscis (nose) that can be extended in order to draw it’s prey closer to it. When fish (or other prey) gets within reach, the Cone Snail stings it with a venom a 1000 times stronger than morphine with an amount which can kill 15 adults. - See more at: http://royalounge.com/the-10-most-dangerous-creatures-in-australia/8/#sthash.daL0MB5T.dpuf

The blue rings covering it’s body give a good specification to this underwater predator, a predator which has 3 hearts, blue blood and a highly lethal poison that can kill 26 adult human beings. It’s poison is similar to that of the Japanese Fugu Fish and despite the small size of this octopus (5 to 8 inches, or 12 to 20 centimeters) it’s one of the most deadliest dwellers of the sea. - See more at: http://royalounge.com/the-10-most-dangerous-creatures-in-australia/9/#sthash.DZP8Rgku.dpuf

The Australian Cassowary is a flightless bird that mostly feeds on fruit, but is an omnivorous and eats small insects, mammals and amphibians when necessary. It is mostly a shy bird, but can attack when provoked using it’s strong toe nail to inflict deadly strikes upon the attacker. - See more at: http://royalounge.com/the-10-most-dangerous-creatures-in-australia/11/#sthash.2gedS65Y.dpuf
